iPad printing is unreasonably difficult. It all works fine no doubt if you go out and buy a shiny new AirPrint enabled printer. Otherwise the simplest/cheapest thing I've found is:
- AirPrint Activator v2 is free/donation-ware for Mac OS X at http://netputing.com/airprintactivator/airprint-activator-v2-0/ which exposes your built-in printer sharing over airprint.
I've had network problems too, similar to the problems with iTunes. Replacing my router was the best solution I had for that. If your router is old, or a very cheap broadband freebie, you may need to replace it.
Hi Chris, thanks for this article.
It is a pain to try and print from the iPad to a printer.
I wanted to print an artwork PDF from my iPad and all I have is a 2010/11 HP LaserJet which of course isn’t AirPrint enabled. Somebody mentioned that there are various third party apps that you can install and that they found Print by EuroSmartz a good option 🙂 It works for me!
Cheers Claire, glad you’re sorted. I tried EuroSmartz WePrint too; it has more features but I felt Activator ‘just worked’ quite simply so I stuck with it.
